Scope and Challenges:

A client required a superior custom cabin built in the community of Windermere, B.C., but had two main concerns: It needed to be built in the off-season between summer and winter, and it was vital that it did not disrupt the community with increased construction noise, traffic, and other disturbances. With two small children in the house, they didn’t want to lose out on family time and memories from a summer at the lake in the existing 1950’s cabin or miss out on the precious ski season in the mountains. These concerns meant that there was a short, three-month window during which we could complete the project.

Solution:

Two months after beginning fabrication on the project, we craned the cabin into place within five hours in December 2017, which was made possible by completing the site preparation while the cabin was constructed offsite. The limited time we required onsite ensured less traffic, less noise, and less waste than any conventional construction project. Finishing was completed shortly after, resulting in a high-quality custom cabin ready for Christmas.

In the end, we used our hybrid approach to deliver the modern mountain home our client desired on an extremely aggressive timeline, without any sacrifices to quality or design.
