Reporting to the VP of Supply Chain, the Contracts Manager plays an integral role within Nomodic’s Supply Chain Management team by overseeing the development and implementation of contract management policies, procedures, and processes, closely measuring performance and aligning with Nomodic’s long-term strategic goals. The Contracts Manager will be responsible for the full-cycle management of all Nomodic customer and supplier contracts, contributing to successful project execution. The expected workload is moderate to high and requirement for travel is moderate. This position is based from Nomodic’s head office in Calgary.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Contracts Manager performs some or all of the following duties:

  • Manage the analysis, negotiation, development, and execution of all customer and supplier contracts to maximize financial and operational performance and mitigate risk
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s supplier qualification and performance measurement procedures
  • Determine optimal contracted service and material strategies
  • Administer, manage and ensure compliance of all Nomodic contracts with clients, suppliers and business partners
  • Establish defined practices for supplier and contractor qualification/management, including supplier key performance indicators, scorecard development/measurement, and quarterly supplier performance management meetings
  • Update and maintain company-wide communication of an Approved Vendor List
  • Lead the drafting, execution, and maintenance of Preferred Supplier Agreements (PSAs), Master Service Agreements (MSAs), and purchase agreements
  • Lead the drafting and execution of confidentiality agreements
  • Drafting, evaluation, negotiation, and execution of subcontracts
  • Support process and coordinate contract-related responses for Requests for Proposals (RFP), and Invitations to Tenders (ITT)
  • Monitor and complete contract close-out
  • Support strategic sourcing initiatives in the distribution and management of RFI, RFQ, and RFP documents
  • Drive total cost of ownership reduction through joint process improvements with suppliers
  • Research and recommend to management best practices and contract process improvements
  • Continuously improve and develop, and submit for approval, departmental contract management policies, procedures, and processes
  • Ensure proper maintenance of contractual records and documentation to established policy and procedure
  • Provide contract management guidance to operational staff, including regular training
  • Attend management meetings and prepare reports and statistics for the leadership team
  • Execute special projects as required

Other Role Expectations

  • Supervise Purchasing Analysts and Contract Administrators
  • Facilitate effective communication and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders based on trust, integrity, and professionalism
  • Provide support and mentorship to the Supply Chain team

Required Skillset

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of progressive contract management experience, including a minimum of three (3) years in a contract’s management role
  • Wide-ranging commercial and contracts experience in a multiple product-line/discipline environment
  • Knowledge of contract laws and regulations
  • Ability to interpret, write, and negotiate contractual agreements
  • Procurement/contract expertise
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, along with the ability to build strong business relations both internally and externally
  • Ability to promote and exemplify Nomodic’s core values
  • Ability to work within a dynamic team, exhibiting leadership and teamwork
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in the use of the MS Office suite (Word & Excel)
  • Ability to lead small to mid-size groups and mentor others
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written, and comfortability with facilitating presentations
  • Proven negotiator and the ability to negotiate at all levels, and initiate and lead contract discussions to successful completion
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical aptitude
  • Extremely well-organized along with the ability to multi-task and handle ever-changing priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance, Business Administration, or Paralegal
  • Other combinations of directly relevant experience and educational credentials will be considered assets
